Stain Removal Tips

It is an unavoidable misfortune that your guests might stain your lovely tablecloths or napkins during dining. No matter what kind of stain, it is recommended to act on the stains immediately and not to leave it untreated before it gets too hard to remove.

Here are some useful do-it-yourself ways for removing stubborn stains.

Wine Stains
Sprinkle coarse salt and let it absorbs new and wet wine stains from the tablecloth/napkin. Scrape up the salt from the tablecloth/napkin and wash with excess cold water. Repeat as needed until the stains have gone.
For stubborn stains, you can soak them for 30 minutes with warm water and one teaspoon of enzyme-active detergent. Alternatively, you can wash with bleach that is safe for your tablecloth/napkin.

Candle Wax Stains
Carefully scrape off the excess hardened wax with the dull edge of a knife. Then put the stained area between paper towels and press with a warm iron. Replace the paper towels as needed until the wax stain diminishes. Finally, sponge the area with grease solvent and wash.

Chocolate Stains
To remove chocolate stains, first treat it with pre-wash spray. Rub with heavy-duty liquid detergent and then launder as per usual. However, if stains remain unclean, soak it with bleach that is safe for your tablecloth/napkin and wash again.

Coffee/Tea Stains
Use pre-wash spray to wet through the stain and wash with hot water that is safe for your tablecloth/napkin. If stains do not come off, wash again with bleach.

Meat/Egg/Juice stains
For these stains, they can be sponged off with cold water easily. If stains remain, soak with detergent with a little bit of diluted bleach that is safe for your tablecloth/napkin and wash again.

Ketchup/Chili Sauce Stains
Treat stained area with pre-wash spray. Leave aside for 5 minutes for better penetration of the pre-wash spray before washing off. If stains remain, rub the area with a heavy-duty liquid detergent and wash again.
